Lyndsey and Gabe’s sunrise to sunset elopement in Yosemite began with watching the sun rise over Glacier Point. Then, they shared a vow renewal with two of their closest loved ones at Cathedral Beach and ended the day with champagne and lantern photos at Taft Point. It was relaxed, and adventurous, and we loved getting to see both sunrise and sunset with these two.

Their Sunrise to Sunset Elopement Timeline

One of our favorite parts of Lindsey and Gabe’s day was how intentionally it was planned. By starting at sunrise and taking a long afternoon break, they experienced Yosemite at its quietest in the morning and its most beautiful during golden hour. Here’s what their day looked like:

5:30 AM – Sunrise portraits at Glacier Point

7:00 AM – Drive through Yosemite Valley toward Tunnel View

7:45 AM – Portraits at Tunnel View

8:15 AM – Stop at Bridalveil Fall with a quick detour through one of Yosemite’s beautiful meadows for photos

8:45 AM – Arrive at Cathedral Beach

9:00 AM – Vow renewal ceremony at Cathedral Beach with a few of their closest loved ones

9:45 AM – Private charcuterie picnic along the Merced River

10:00 AM – Drive to Yosemite Falls

10:15 AM – Portraits in the meadow overlooking Half Dome followed by photos near Yosemite Falls

11:00 AM – Morning coverage wraps up

6:15 PM – Meet at the Taft Point trailhead for sunset portraits

Sunset – Champagne toast as the sun dipped below the cliffs, followed by lantern portraits after dark

8:45 PM – End of coverage

This timeline gave Lindsey and Gabe the chance to experience several of Yosemite’s most iconic locations without feeling rushed. They also had nearly seven hours in the middle of the day to relax, grab lunch, and enjoy the park together before heading back out for sunset. It’s one of our favorite ways to build a full-day Yosemite elopement timeline.

Sunrise at Glacier Point

Our day started bright and early at 5:30am at Glacier Point. Watching the first light hit Half Dome never gets old. The morning was peaceful and we practically had the overlook to ourselves. It’s one of our favorite places to begin an elopement day because Yosemite feels completely different before visitors start arriving.

Glacier Point Road is seasonal, so this sunrise location is generally an option only when the road is open. As part of our elopement planning services, we always check current road conditions while building Yosemite elopement timelines.

Exploring Tunnel View & Yosemite Valley

One of the things we love about Yosemite is how many incredible locations are close together. Throughout the morning, Lyndsey and Gabe explored several of our favorite spots in the park. We first stopped at Tunnel View, where they shared a simple charcuterie picnic. It was the perfect way to slow down and soak in the moment. Then, we made our way toward Bridalveil Fall. From there, we continued through the valley before arriving at their elopement ceremony location.

Their Cathedral Beach Ceremony

Cathedral Beach is one of our favorite ceremony locations in Yosemite, especially for couples planning a small elopement or intimate wedding. It’s nestled along the Merced River and offers beautiful views of El Capitan while still feeling peaceful and tucked away. It’s easily accessible for guests, making it a wonderful choice for couples who want to include a few of their favorite people without needing a long hike.

Morning Portraits Around Yosemite Falls

With the ceremony complete, we continued exploring Yosemite Valley. We stopped near Yosemite Falls and wandered through one of the nearby meadows with incredible views of Half Dome. By late morning, we wrapped up the first portion of their elopement photography coverage. Lyndsey and Gabe had the rest of the day to relax, grab lunch, and recharge before sunset.

Ending the Day at Taft Point

That evening, we met back up for one final adventure. Taft Point is one of the most iconic sunset locations in Yosemite, and this evening absolutely delivered. We had the best golden hour light while Lyndsey and Gabe explored the overlook together.

As the sun disappeared below the horizon, they celebrated with a champagne toast before we finished the evening with lantern portraits. It was the perfect ending to their sunrise to sunset Yosemite elopement.

Can You Include Both Sunrise and Sunset in a Yosemite Elopement?

Yes, absolutely! One of our favorite things about Lyndsey and Gabe’s day was their decision to split their photography coverage. Instead of spending twelve straight hours together, we photographed sunrise through late morning, took a long break in the afternoon, and met back up for sunset. It gave them time to grab lunch, relax, freshen up, and enjoy Yosemite without feeling like every minute was scheduled.

There are practical benefits too. Sunrise offers some of the quietest moments in the park, while sunset brings those warm golden colors everyone loves. By splitting coverage, you don’t have to choose one or the other.
