It’s no secret that we love documenting mountain weddings and elopements! When you’re surrounded by tall trees, fresh air, and the sound of the river, it just feels peaceful. The Rainbow Lodge in Soda Springs is one of those places where everything slows down in the best way. It’s a wedding venue that’s warm, welcoming, and full of character.
We’re a husband and wife photographer and videographer duo who had the chance to photograph Bradley and Miriam’s beautiful Jewish wedding here recently, and it was such a joy. Their day was packed with meaning, tradition, and their closest loved ones. From their emotional first look to the music-filled celebration that followed, this wedding reminded us why we love doing what we do and why the Rainbow Tavern and Lodge is such a gem of a venue.
If you’re looking for a wedding venue that’s both cozy and beautiful, Rainbow Lodge is a top pick. Located just outside Lake Tahoe, it offers a quiet, woodland escape. Everything you need for a full weekend with your loved ones is right here, all in one place.
Here are a few of our favorite things about it:
This venue really feels like a retreat. Whether you’re gathering around the fireplace, wandering nearby trails, or just soaking in quiet moments between celebrations, it offers plenty for couples and their guests to enjoy.
As storytellers, we look for places that have beauty, character, and variety. Rainbow Lodge offers all three. The inside of the lodge is full of texture and charm, with natural light that is perfect for quiet, candid moments.
Outside, the scenery changes in a wonderful way. Tall pine trees, stone bridges, and a calm riverbank create beautiful backdrops for portraits. There is stunning natural light near the river and trees, and outside is especially beautiful during golden hour.
We also love how each part of the property feels unique yet connected. This helps us capture the full story of the day. From soft, intimate moments inside to lively, bright shots outdoors, the variety keeps the experience fresh and fun. This mix gives couples plenty of options for their photos and makes the whole day more exciting.
This venue offers several venue options, depending on your style and the season.
The riverside area is quiet and peaceful, surrounded by tall trees. There is also a hidden clearing in the forest for a more private, woodsy feel. Across the road, large granite boulders create a bold and scenic backdrop, perfect for portraits or exchanging vows.
Bradley and Miriam chose to have their ceremony outdoors with their loved ones gathered around. There was plenty of space for their chuppah. A live string trio played traditional music, adding a unique and emotional tone that carried throughout the ceremony and beyond.
The main lodge offers a warm and inviting great room with rich wood details, perfect for cozy dinners and lively dancing, especially during cooler months or if the weather calls for it. For those who love the fresh mountain air, the outdoor space is just as wonderful, letting you celebrate under the stars with plenty of room to dine and dance. Both options create a beautiful, memorable setting for your reception.
No matter which venues you choose at the Rainbow Lodge, one of the things we love about the Rainbow Lodge is how little extra decor you need. The space is naturally full of character and beauty.
After their ceremony, Bradley and Miriam hosted their reception outside, with cocktail hour inside the lodge. Their day was filled with moving moments, including beautiful Jewish traditions like the Tisch, Hora, and breaking the glass.
In addition to the ceremony and reception spaces, the property offers many options for first looks. One of our favorite memories was Bradley and Miriam’s first look. It was not just the two of them! Their loved ones formed a circle, singing and smiling as the couple saw each other for the first time. That moment was full of energy, and the setting made it even more meaningful.
This venue is a great fit for couples planning to celebrate with up to 120 guests. It’s especially perfect if you want more than just a single-day event. If you’re hoping to spend quality time with your people, unwind in nature, and enjoy a wedding that feels like a relaxing weekend away, Rainbow Lodge should be on your list. With 27 guest rooms offering a range of sleeping arrangements, it can comfortably host up to 65 overnight guests.
Rainbow Lodge works well for couples who:
Plus, if you’re drawn to the Tahoe area but want to avoid traffic and crowds, this venue offers a peaceful, private setting while still showcasing the stunning landscape you’re after.
Pricing varies depending on the season and how long you stay, but generally, weddings at Rainbow Lodge start around $15,500. This cost covers overnight lodging for your guests, full access to the ceremony and reception spaces, and exclusive use of the property.
Keep in mind that catering, rentals, planning services, and photography or videography are separate expenses. Popular summer and fall dates tend to book quickly, so it’s a good idea to reach out early if you’re interested.
