As a Northern California wedding photo and video duo, we love capturing weddings at Miners Foundry Cultural Center in Nevada City, California. This beautiful venue is located in a historic gold rush town in the Sierra Foothills between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe.
We recently had the joy of capturing Allie and Devin’s wedding here, and we were instantly reminded of why we love this venue so much. Their day was full of meaningful moments, all at one of the most distinctive venues in Northern California. Read more about why we love this venue and see more from Allie and Devin’s big day below!
Miners Foundry Cultural Center is a true piece of California history. Built in 1855 as a machine shop, it helped power Nevada County’s gold mining industry. Today, it serves as a cultural hub for the community, supporting the arts while honoring its industrial roots.
Getting married here means stepping into a space full of character. We love how the venue combines original stonework, exposed beams, and antique touches. It’s a beautiful setting for wedding photos and film. And while the space feels historic, it also includes plenty of modern amenities to keep your day running smoothly.
From a photo and video perspective, Miners Foundry has so much variety. Inside, the moody lighting, textured stone, and antique furnishings create a cozy, romantic vibe. Outside, you’re steps away from colorful streets, forest trails, and charming buildings, which are all perfect for portraits. It makes for a wedding gallery and film that feels dynamic, without needing to go far from the venue.
One of the biggest perks of this venue is its flexibility. Whether you’re planning a cozy celebration or a larger party, there are plenty of spaces to choose from.
The Stone Hall is the most popular choice for both ceremonies and receptions. It features a working stone fireplace, exposed beams, chandeliers, and antique furniture. It has a warm, historic feel that’s hard to beat. This space is easily accessible from the kitchen, foyer, and back deck.
This adjacent hall features a permanent stage, wood dance floor, and built-in theatrical lighting. With café lights strung across the ceiling and a professional sound system in place, it’s ideal for live music, dinner, and dancing.
Once a blacksmith shop, this light-filled space is now used for ceremonies, cocktail hours, and even small receptions. With large windows, antique machinery, and a long central ramp, it’s both functional and full of character.
The Upper Gallery is connected to the Foyer and once housed Pelton Wheel production. Today, it’s a flexible event space with archways, a large chandelier, and lots of natural light. It’s often used for cocktail hours or additional lounge space.
The Conference Room serves as a private area for the couple or wedding party to get ready, complete with a full-length mirror, sink, and seating. The venue also includes accessible restrooms, kitchen access, tables, chairs, and other event essentials.
This venue is a great fit for couples who want something more than just a pretty backdrop. If you’re drawn to history, art, and one-of-a-kind spaces, Miners Foundry will feel like a natural choice. It’s especially ideal for couples who want to create a wedding weekend experience, since Nevada City has great restaurants, vintage shops, coffee spots, and outdoor trails for guests to enjoy.
The venue also includes helpful amenities like tables, chairs, and sound equipment, which can help streamline your rental needs and planning checklist.
Pricing can vary based on the day of the week and which spaces you rent, but you can expect the full wedding package to include access to multiple halls and amenities. Contact the venue directly for up-to-date pricing and availability.
We recently documented Allie and Devin’s wedding here, and their day was perfect from start to finish. They got ready at The Parsonage, a beautifully restored Victorian home just minutes away. Before the ceremony, we headed to the Tribute Trail for portraits and brought their dog along for the adventure.
Both their ceremony and reception took place at the Miners Foundry. With twinkle lights overhead, historic textures all around, and personal, emotional vows, it was the perfect blend of rustic and romantic. We’re so thankful we got to capture their day in one of our favorite small towns in Northern California.
